People often get two exercises -- Pilates and yoga -- mixed up or interchange them for one another, yet they are quite different as I found out on Monday afternoon.

Tricia McAvoy, left, of New London, co-owner of Blissworks Yoga & Healing Art of New London, instructs a yoga class titled“Yoga at Harkness” at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford Wednesday. About 20 people attended the hourlong class, which meets at 6:45 p.m. every Wednesday through August.

Under one roof on any given day you can find people of every age from everywhere in Frederick County exercising bodies and minds. Adults sweat in the fitness center and in classes (from power yoga to body sculpting), while children play games in the gym or discover a new word or fact in a classroom.
